children's ministry

When Jesus saw this, he grew angry and said to them, “Allow the children to come to me.

Don’t forbid them, because God’s kingdom belongs to people like these children." (Mark 10:14)

Children are our future and the future at BLC looks SO VERY BRIGHT! They are also our present, and at Bethlehem we embrace all the wonderful qualities that children possess ~ the wiggles, the giggles, the running and playing and hopping and skipping, the questions, the innocence, the tears and tantrums, their wonder and awe, and even their mischief! We welcome and embrace it all! Children are one of our greatest blessings and we want them to know how much we appreciate them, and that this is their church. We want them to be excited to come to church, to feel safe and accepted and loved; we want them to grow and learn and get to know Jesus; we want them to play and worship and sing and be involved! And we strive to accomplish this in many ways:

Sunday Mornings: Children are WANTED in worship! We want them to sing with us, we want them to pray with us, we want to hear them in the sanctuary. We invite them to assist in the lighting of the candles as well as carry the cross. We want them to feel included! We have Worship Activity Bags available for them to help quiet busy hands and we also have a Family Worship Space for families who have children that need to move and explore.

Mt. Cross Day Camp: In the summer join us for a Vacation Bible School experience like no other; brought to us by the amazing talents from our closest Lutheran camp Mt. Cross!

Chalking of the Doors: Each year on the day of Epiphany, January 6th, we go out and bless people's homes, sing them a song, chalk their door, and leave them a sweet treat--echoing the ministry of the magi to the baby Jesus.

Community Activities: Trick or Treat for canned goods to support the Auburn Food Closet; serving at The Gathering Inn; inter-generational game nights; church picnic; art nights, movie nights; bowling; and so much more!
